Students will require specific skills and prior knowledge for Jogja fieldtrip. In one of our assembly time we will do rolling activities to prepare them with these skills. Follows are my suggestion for the topic of the activities:
-
Research Skills - observation skills and note taking skills: It’s needed when they record new information they get during the trip and to write down all the things they notice about a particular object they met in Jogja. e.g. pattern writing exercises
- Thinking Skills - Reflection journal and questioning skills: essential skills for inquiry and reflecting on what they learn. This will prepare them to be independent learner during the trip, not depend on worksheet
- Social Skils - Essential rules for the trips and also Jogja custom and tradition: involve students to design the rules and also share some basic Jogja customs and tradition for cross cultural understanding. It’s useful when they interact with local people
-
Communication Skills - Documenting the trips visually and presenting it to others: introduce proper use of the camera and basic photography techniques. And possibly how to gather these data to make a good report , show example of good report
- Self management skills: Accommodation – set up a menu for 5 days, budget planning, gear list – hotel or self management assessment
