Central idea
A supportive work environment is essential to the development of our creativity
Summative assessment task(s):
Students will work in group to design a safe and comfortable art room for the other school members. This room should be organized with clear procedure and agreement made by all users (teachers and students) You will also work in groups to decorate the art room with techniques learnt by your selves, with peers or with the teachers . You need to present your design to the teachers. Your chosen idea will be applied in the actual art room that will be used by everyone.
And based on students idea, It actually help me to manage the Visual Art room. It's maintained throughout the year and here are some tips that I can share with you if you want to build an inquiry classroom:
- Materials and equipment should be accessible easily by students. When these are available for them to use independently, then you can expect students inquiry when exploring the use of these tools and materials
- Make the thinking visible. Just like in other classroom, you need to involve students in thinking and creative process and most importantly this need to be visible in the classroom.
- Display provoking question along with Art work sample. This question can be part of the responding aspect when working with artwork. When we analyze artwork students actually learn about it and can take it as inspiration. The question should be conceptual and related to the UOI.
- Involve students respond to an artwork. Similar to above, we need to involve stduents in responding artwork, as this might lead to many inquiry question regarding with the artwork itself.
- Display lots of provoking images and artwork. This should be great primary resources for your art learning and to tune in students in to art concept.
- Provide enough books about arts. Many books discussing about art and many has inspiration for students to bring when they want to create artwork.
